Vulgar Display of Power!!!

I have been thinking about this a lot since Friday and the more I think about it, the more it pisses me off! What you are seeing in this picture is about twenty Metro Cops who stormed into the Bohemian last Friday and impounded the equipment of Bacchus Nel and the Westdene Four. It had been a great gig, Bacchus was really killing it and his band was rocking out. There were probably less than 100 people chilling in the Boh, having a dop and enjoying the band. About 11:30pm Bacchus left the stage and the band started up on an encore, but they were stopped in their tracks by more than 20 metro cops who were responding to  a noise complaint. [Good to know that it takes twenty of you wankers!]

So that's that, they didn't shut down the bar, who the noise complaint was lodged against. Instead they stormed in, were rude, didn't give the band their names and badge numbers, refused to speak to Bacchus' lawyer on the phone and stormed off with the band's gear when the Bohemian has a license to have live entertainment till 2am. Imagine if the police showed that much efficiency when dealing with noise complaints on 7th street in Melville or fighting crime for that matter! Let's think how many of those dumb middle of the road commercial bars would still be around now. The band had to get their gear out on Monday and it cost them R1000, which the Bohemian paid. Add to that the fact that Bacchus' guitar was damaged by the Metro Cops! All this the same weekend the cops raid venues in Stellenbosch allegedly pepper spraying people, hitting them with the buts of guns and feeling up female patrons. It make me sick, The Police are not a law unto themselves!

One last thing, the guys in the Bohemian who responded to the metro cops by making monkey noises, you're CUNTS! I know the cops were completely out of order, but if you think that's an excuse for you racist shit, then FUCK YOU!

I am busy working on a news story on this incident, which I will post up here when done. I have contacted the Metro Police for comment and their reasoning is just not good enough. Here are some pics of the mayhem and the gig!
